"dieselgeek" shifter smooth as butta?????

1044 Views 23 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  Golf_2K2L
I've heard "dieselgeek" can make the shifter as smooth as butta.
I'd like to hear opinions from guys with a "dieselgeek" shifter. Thanks!

Okay, " http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif " is not a very colorful opinion. that tells people nothing. I am interested also because my Neuspeed Shifter is so fenominally notchy

yea ive heard good things... if im not mistaken these are the ones that shorten the horizontal throw as well.
Re: ... (kid_knate)

I heard good things too! When I get one, it WILL be a dieselgeek!
Re: ... (TDIHeater)

all i know is that my neuspeed one grinds like crazy. plus i am pretty sure that the dieselgeek one shortens the left to right movement also
Re: ... (kid_knate)

Is the dieselgeek shifter smoother & why?
I've heard that the shift linkages are machined.
Re: "dieselgeek" shifter smooth as butta????? (Gaucho)

I just ordered a dieselgeek, first mod for my car
From what I've read in the forum it seems like the best one. For a hundred bucks you get front and back, plus side to side, I'll post some more opinons once I get it in.

Their website mentions:
1) High Performance Short Shift Kits
2) Factory Replacement Shift Linkage Parts
Are both included with the SS kit?
Re: "dieselgeek" shifter smooth as butta????? (Golf_2K2L)

I have the neuspeed and like it. The dieselgeek indeed shortens both side to side and forward backward movement. The parts are modified stock parts, so you know they will fit. You also need to send in your old stuff, but no biggie.
Re: "dieselgeek" shifter smooth as butta????? (Golf_2K2L)

Golf_2K2L:
The kit for your car falls in the "High Performance Short Shift Kit" category while the "Factory Replacement Shift Linkage Parts" are limited to a few A2 and A3 shift parts to make the earlier cars more reliable and shift better. I will add to the Factory Replacement category soon and I AM the source for superior shifter performance at a reasonable cost.

the dieselgeek short shifter feels much like stock, just shorter in vertical movement. it does also reduce side to side movement but it is the vertical reduction that makes the rows feel very natural. had it for about 4 months and no complaints. never drove any vws with other ss, so cant compare the difference with others. i would have made it my first mod if i had to do it over again.

It took out alot of the noticheyness of the stock shifter. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif .

Re: "dieselgeek" shifter smooth as butta????? (Gaucho)

I have a Dieselgeek SS. It works well. Installs easily, can be adjusted if there is "notchyness". It shortens vertical and horizontal throw.
My advise is to pull out the air box when you install it. You have much more room to move around.
Re: "dieselgeek" shifter smooth as butta????? (jimk75)

The only thing I don't like about the "notchiness" is when you're shifting fast or racing - you tend to push and pull the shifter very HARD than having the ease of use.
What I heard was the ultimate mod to do is NS short shifter and Diesekgeeks side to side kit; unfortunately, this will cost a lot.

Thank you Jim Royston (jroyston) from "dieselgeek" for clearing up my confusion. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Dieselgeek just came out with an oil cooler for $240 + free shipping until Feb. 28th.

I think this can be adjusted. Maybe someone could comment???
Mine shifted rough until I let a couple more threads show on the small black linkage piece.

So the "Factory Replacement Shift Linkage Parts" are limited to A2 & A3 shift parts but they will be adding this to the A4 soon.
So the "dieselgeek" SS can be adjusted to reduce notchiness? Maybe someone could comment???
