John A has a GREAT FAQ:

Re: Difference between AWW, AWD and AWP???? (flanders)

my t1 is down, so i'll answer quickie-style
awd = 1.8t (150 hp)
aww = 1.8t with revised turbo, variable cam timing, lower compression (155hp)
awp = aww + higher boost (180hp)
that's it on a really basic level. t1 should be back tomorrow, so the faq in my sig should be back online.

where does the AUG fit into all this?
Re: Difference between AWW, AWD and AWP???? (mozhna)

How do I know which one I have?? My sticker states 150HP, but I was talking to my tech guy, and he told me that I have the variable timing. So, how do I know if I have the AWD or the AWW? Is there a sticker somewhere that I can look at that will tell me? I have the VAG-COM tool, will that tell me?

sticker in your manual, and near your spare tire.
it's also on the block if it's awd, but it's easier to find sticker.

Never mind!! Went to John's FAQ and found that there were a couple of places that I could look at. Even though my "Scheduled Maint booklet" didn't have a sticker in it (which should have told me), the sticker beside the spair tire had the info I was looking for.
Thanks guys.
BTW, cruising with a AWW.
