Hey folks, I was wondering if someone can give me a rundown of the diff. between the 2001 Vr6 GTI and the 2002 1.8T GTI. Aside from the climate control and the trip and trac. control type options.
I'm looking at jumping into a 2002 1.8 but I might have a line on a 2001 GLX. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Differences between 2001 GLX and 2002 1.8T GLS GTI's (Mooney)

Since no one has replied as of yet...
the current 2002 1.8t gti has 180 hp and 174 lb/ft of torque.
the 2001 vr6 gti has 174 hp and 181 lb/ft of torque.
I don't know what prices you're getting at the moment but as of right now the 1.8t should be less $$
The 12v vr6 is due to be replaced by the 24v sometime this spring,at that point if you still want the 12v you could probably get a really good deal on them.

Oh let's not forgot the NUMERO 1 reason to get the 1.8t:
if you are going to mod your car for speed, you will get an big return on the various chips that are out there.

The GLX has all of the options you could get. Rain sensor wipers, auto dim rear view mirror, heated seats(leather), steering wheel controls, plus...
Good luck.
