When installing a Digi I system into an A1 to run a 16v, what plugs/sensors do i not need? What should I cut off the harness before installation, without affecting anything else in the system, or is it best to wire everything up and then just cut the additional wires I don't use?

Your best off taking all the tape off the stock harness, removing all the BS that doesn't run to/from ECU, sensors and the fuseblock. When you're done there's 6-8 wires to go into the car. Tape it back up with rubber electrical tape.
