For liability reasons, VW Nav systems don't want you to enter navigation info (e.g. setting a new destination address) while the car is in motion. Of course, it's perfectly reasonable for a passenger to operate the navigation system. On my older RNS-510 nav system, I was able to remove the speed-based input block by loading the Video In Motion hack, which also allowed the car to play DVD movies while driving.

My new Discover Media Nav system has the same input block when the car is in motion. Has anyone figured out how to change the speed threshold setting to effectively remove the block on this newer head unit?

I'm quite surprised I haven't been able to find a single conversation about it here, or in any other VW forum.

Of course they have to adhere to the US DOT rules, more than likely.
It appears in Europe you can enter a destination via voice control - I would guess there's no speed/motion limitation if you can do that without using your hands.

Features & specifications:
8.0" touchscreen colour display

3D map navigation (Europe) with voice control

Film playback from AVI, MPEG, Divx, H.246 from USB data carriers

Music playback from MP3, WMA, AAC files with title display AUX IN

I wish I could help you. If you find a work-around, please keep the forum posted.
