Re: DIY: Enable rear foglight on Euro LED tails. (thread)

Two minor corrections for the Rear Fog Light DIY.
The Red Locking Bar actually unlocks when pushed towards the Driver's side, and locks when pushed towards the passenger side.
The Torx screws that need to be removed are mis-marked in the photo.
The two screws in question are indented in the very bottom cover under the steering wheel.
Corrected picture with proper screws marked.

Re: DIY: Enable rear foglight on Euro LED tails. (thread)

Just did this on the GTI, and its awesome. ... I had a real hard time finding a RED foglight bulb at pepboys and autozone. So I got those cheezy bulb covers in red! So it looks a little to pink for my taste. I might just order the fog tail light lense from TMTUNING and solve this problem. Thanks for the clear instructions.
forgot to add.... Since now I only have one back up light, I upgraded the bulb to a 50 Watt halogen one I got at Pepboys! Bad ass, and lights up quite well.

Actually it will melt the plastic lens in the light unit before it melts the wiring harness...I promise....
One word of warning REMOVE THAT 50W bulb at once or you'll be sorry!

Here is the DIY for enabling the rear foglight on the Euro LED tails.
This operation requires a VAG-COM so if you don't have one check here:
http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.pl

the link is dead. sorry I was clicking the wrong one.

really it happened to you too? how did you fix it?

The previous post was in reference to The R.I.P
Not the windshield wipers.
Crawl under the Dash, and re-inspect the "C" and "B" connectors to:
A.) make sure all of the wires are seated properly, and pins are locked
B.) make sure both of these connectors are seated properly, and that all of the connectors are seated and locked to the mother board.

Just did this one Tuesday.. I felt the hardest part was snaking the line from the switch down underneath. I ended unscrewing the fuse box and pushing it to the side which gave me a clear path.
