I just tried this to see what it would look like and took some pics just in case someone wanted to try it also.
Tools: Phillips Screw driver
Torxscrew driver (or small allen wrench)
regular front view

Look at the top side of the bottom grill and look for two screws, unscrew those. Heres where they should be located.

Now, pop the hood and you should see this. Use the 6-point screw driver (or small allen wrench) to unscrew the screws on the left and right side and pull the tabs and just wiggle the whole assembly out. Should come out pretty easily.

Now that you got the grill out, flip it around and youll see three tabs. Pull the tabs the direction of the arrows. The one going left and right was kinda hard, had to wiggle it in both directions.

Now just reassemble everything back. You can still see where the emblem was.

I also got my plates today and here in jersey, you have to have front plates. I didnt want to drill into my bumper so i did this. I dont know if its smart putting it here but i figured there should be enough air flow from the top grill.

Heres the finished product.

Thanks for the plate idea! I'm going to try and go without a plate for as long as I can. When I get pulled over for it, that's when I'll get the cable ties out!

Thanx. I was thinking about going without a front plant and making up an excuse just in case but id rather not take the chance. I have the worst luck with the cops around my area.

Nice, but what about the ventilation?

Yeah, i mentioned it at the top. I thought about it and thought there should be enough ventilation from the top part of the grill and on the sides of the plate.

Somebody showed a dealer in Mass that was installing their plates in the same place. I'm going to zip tie mine on the lower grill off to one side to minimize the airflow blockage.

Mods: Is this good enough to be added to the "MkV Forum FAQ and DIY Thread"?

Yes. And you should dry the honeycomb grille after washing the car.

But why mess up the clean look with carbon fiber?

I did this today but just ended up breaking the tabs off. Whoops, guess I'm de-badged for good. I'm sure the front badge is spendy.
