I didn't ask this question as a poll as I wanted to see how everyone responds. I've been whining about my B5.5's problems and have been thinking about replacing it. I've looked at Acura 3.2TL, M-B C320, BMW 530i, and *gasp* even a Cadillac DeVille. I've come away, as many others have stated, as feeling glad to get back into the Passat. There just isn't anything else quite like it, except for maybe an Audi A6, but for much more $$$. The M-B & the BMW are great, but so expensive you feel you aren't getting any value for your investment. I must admit, I love my Passat - even though it does have it's foibles and quirks. Perhaps that even makes it a bit more endearing.
How do you feel about your Passat?

Re: Do You Have a Love Affair with Your Passat? (TucsonRaymo)

I feel like you do. I love my car, even though I've had a series of minor problems and it's had to go to the body shop twice (not my fault!). I recently drove both a Ford Focus and Mitsubishi Lancer as rentals for a few days, and I couldn't wait to get back into my Passat! Those brief forays with other cars reminded me of how much I love this car.

Driving my B5 still puts a big grin on my face. I got a keeper. I'm going to do an exhaust this spring. Probably MTM. If I still feel this way next spring, maybe it'll be time for a K04 (MTM also)

I loved it, until it got rear-ended (twice) and the armrest broke off. Now I'm dreaming of a DE GTI...

Yes. We love this car. We've had it almost a year. It gets rock chips in the front, slightly hit in the rear bumper, and it's going in the shop as soon as possible! This car is so beautiful, so fun to drive, so handy and with such great utility and economy, that it will be meticulously maintained. My wife drives it, and I want the best for her (and us). One day it wil be my daily driver, and I think it's going to last. We have had zero problems with this car, and it is so much fun to drive and use that we see it as a long-term vehicle.
I've driven the A4, and will look at theTL for my wife's next car, but probably it's going to be hard to justify getting anything else in the future (maybe the B6).
I think the Passat is the best value on the road.
