Does the Audi 1.8T engine sound like the Passat 1.8T?

Went for a test drive in a new Audi A4 1.8T Quattro (WOW!).
I noticed the exhaust note of the car was really raspy and mean. I don't remember this same experience in the Passats I drove.
Do they sound the same (from the inside)?

The engine is the same, but maybe the exhaust setup is slightly different and they meant to make it sound more sporty since it's an audi. Maybe somebody will know exactly what the differences are.

Different muffler or mufflers if you test drove the brand new model.
If you listen to a TT, especially the 225hp dual exhausted model you will hear a big difference.
