So I have had my 2001.5 for about 2 weeks now and it has already been in the shop for the following:
1. No one touch up on the drivers window
2. Hit the remote unlock once nothing happens, twice unlocks all the doors
3. Squeak/rattle in dash
4. Doors don't unlock when key is removed
Dealer States after having it all day:
1. Window system reset
2. locks reset
3. dash dismantled and seams sprayed with "anti-squeek" (probably wd-40) Dealer states "it is a new car, wait for 3k miles for squeaks to work out")
4. locks reset
My results:
1. one touch up works intermittently
2. now pushing the remote results in all the doors unlocking EXCEPT the drivers door. second push results in all doors unlocking
3. after dash heats up on cold days most squeaks go away. My b5 had problems like this too so it doesn't phase me anymore
4. all doors unlock when key removed

So what really bugs me is they first verbally ask for all "5's" on the phone survey and there is also a slip stapled to my receipt stating the same. These surveys are a good idea but every dealer i go to tells me to give all 5's so they can keep there "best in boston rating". I have also heard that the dealer gets a report after each one and they know who gave the answers. I am afraid the next time i go in that if i didn't give all 5's they are going to take it out on my car. Why should i give all 5's when they don't do the work right? They tell me to talk to the manager to work things out before the survey if i am not satisfied. If they don't do the job righ the first time why should they get a 2nd or 3rd chance to do the work again? Where is the incentive to do the job right? The window/lock repairs are simple to reproduce, they are not subjective like the squeak.
Phew, needed to get that off my chest and i am sorry about the rant. Anyone have an idea why my locks/window is screwed up? I will have to live with it until the 5k service because arranging rides to and from the dealer is too much of a hassle to get these unconvinced looked at twice in one week.

Re: driver lock/window problem/ dealer phone surveys (drewwidMA)

I noticed we have the same "doors not unlocking when you remove key" problem. I'm wondering if the factory sends them out that way. I have a feeling my dealership didn't do a very thorough pre-delivery inspection.

Re: driver lock/window problem/ dealer phone surveys (wrighla)

My b5 did neither the unlock or the lock at 10mph so i just requested it on the first service. My b5.5 had one option, i just figured they decided to make the lock at 10mph standard and the second was optional. Either way it should be a very easy thing to add and i don't think they are necessarly related.

According to VWguild, VWoA did away with the high pressure 1-5 survey. Looks like they may have missed a few dealerships when they rolled out the new MOT plan. If you're interested in more discussion on the surveys, check this thread out: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=221350
