ok.. so i got a question here which i know people can help me out with so speak up please!
my rear(obviously) drums are rusted like a pumpkin. i really want them looking nice again, but i dotn know what products to use. i know there are all those caliper paints, but before i spray them black i need to remove the rust and i dont think going at it with some sandpaper is very wise....... so what can i use!?!?!?
secondly, i was considering painting my calipers. my car is red and i dont think yellow would look good at all, so do they make some kind of silver metalic paint? i think that would look good, but suggestions are very welcome! thanks guys

Re: drums and calipers (B_artman)

Use black Tremclad high temperature paint (BBQ Paint?) for the drums.
IMO painting the front calipers when you have drums in the back is http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif . The only thing worse is painting the drums and calipers a bright color.

What color is the car? I have a dark green metalic Golf (Classic Green) and I painted my drums and Calipers to match, looks great cause its a dark color. My drums where mat grey from the factory, I sanded them down and cleaned then with brake dust cleaning stuff and then just applied several coats of the paint I got made to match my car, I haven repainted them for a year and they still shine!

Re: drums and calipers (B_artman)

i just did my front calipers last weekend. buy a wire brush drill attatchment...works great for removing rust. For the drums..use the wire brush and then maybe go over it with some rough grain sand paper..but for the calipers just use the wire brush and wash them. I would just get some red caliper paint to do your front calipers, and black caliper paint for the rear drums..i think im gunna do that sometime.

Re: drums and calipers (vwoah)

light sand paper is ok to use. it doesnt ussually take much to get surface rust off. black or grey is fine also. please, no bright colors on drums or calipers!
have fun

Tremclad kicks a$$!!!! I used Tremclad on my car, painted all the calipers using spray paint...it came out looking sexy. The paint on the calipers even survived a cold, dirty, Canadian winter; all I had to do in the spring was take a soapy sponge and give the calipers a good wipe and they all looked fresh again.
