When im in the dsg mode or whatever u call it when im using the paddle shifters it downshifts for me.I was in 3rd at about 3300rpm and then i gunned it without touchin anything and it down****ed int 3rd.WTF?

FV-QR

If you floor it past the little click in the gas-pedal, it will downshift for maximum acceleration. If you only floor it just up to that click-point, then you'll get max acceleration in that gear.

Yea, my only explanation for this clicky thing is for emergencies... if you need to gun it through a red or something like that to avoid a hit, you don't have to think about down shifting first.
But I made a thread a while back asking whether or not flooring it to the clicky delivered the same engine power as flooring it past the clicky... I think we came to the conclusion that flooring it up to the clicky gives the same engine power as past the clicky, and that the clicky only acts as a downshift "kickdown" thing.

If in 'M' mode and you're rolling along in 6th and for whatever reason need to gun it, then the kickdown switch can be useful.
I mean, you can be thinking, oh yeah, shift, let's see, I'm going 42mph, 3rd would be optimal, but am I in 6th and need to tap down three, or am I in 5th and need to tap down two?
So just mash the kickdown and you'll get close enough. Any throttle up to the first stop will just give you a stupid amount of gas into the wrong gear.
