DTC codes 16684 and 16687...what are the likely culprits?

Posted this on the 2.0 forum, but might get more answers here since the codes are MkIV-specific.
Anyway, I get codes 16684 and 16687 and it runs like crap when I try to accelerate. Any and all help and suggestions welcome.

According to the Bentley...
16684 is "Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Dectected"
16687 is "Cyl 3 Misfire Detected"
So you have a problem with cylinder number 3....what this means i have no idea
Thanks for the replies folks.
It is definitely missing on a cylinder. Spark plug or wire? Took out the plugs and none looked fouled, the wires I have no way to check, but they are seated properly.
Any other ideas?

Maybe the morning crowd can provide some insight.

I got the exact same codes and it was ideling bad and running poorly. I changed the plugs to Bosch Super FR6DCX and it is back to runnign correctly. Didn't see if you are 1.8T so those plugs may not work for your application. Just try changing plugs, whats $5 spent on plugs gonna hurt, and if it isn't it you have new plugs for when you need them. Good luck.

Hey Keegan, I found a place local that sells those; I'll report back later on the outcome. Thanks for the help.

Got the plugs, didn't fix.
Any other suggestions? Good place to get high performance spark plug wires?

Before you start throwing more than $5 at it, I would check those plug wires and see if the connections are tight. If they are, I wouldn't think they would be bad this quick. Also, did you gap those plugs to spec, I am sure you did, just want to make sure before you put more $ down.

You're running a turbo 2.0? What kit did you install?
Keegan, all plugs gapped and wires are on firmly, just pulled codes and got the same exact ones. Gonna order some wires from (ND? somebody?).
Boston, put the NS SC on there. Ran great until now (not related).

Fixed. Thanks for the help.

Hey Vickers,
sorry I didn't see this until now, but this is the same problem I had after I installed my supercharger. In my case, I had mangled the wires. New wires from NS and it was all good. But I don't know how they would go bad on you after running fine. What fixed it?

Yes, what fixed it?
