Dynojet results

1596 Views 16 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  ICIN235
I finally got to compare my Mustang dyno results to a DynoJet. On the graph below, the red air/fuel line is with the mixture set at +/- 4mA. For the blue line I turned the 3mm about 1/2 turn, so I'm not sure where my mAs are at this point.
Can anyone familiar with the air/fuel chart below give me some feedback on what you think the issue may be? Is it just CIS-E? or is the TT enrichment not working properly? thanks.

These are realistic numbers.

quote:

not nockin your car or nothin....but...doesn't a stock 2.0L make like 120 hp? it says you've only got 128 w/ a cam, 1.8 head, fuel module, euro race downpipe, full exhaust....shouldn't you be pushin around 140?
jesus, why does this text box overwrite crap when i go back to put in new text too....ehehe....sorry, venting

stock 2.0 16v makes 134hp at the crank
the dyno chart above is at the wheels, drivetrain loss usually takes away 15%, so a stock 2.0 making 134 at the crank makes ~113 at the wheels, and his 128 at the wheels makes ~148 at the crank
Re: Dynojet results (bluerrrabbit)

mike, how did that 16v Scirocco do and Clint's G60? did you get to run your brothers 16v?
duff, like 88jetta said, these graphs represent the HP that is getting to the wheels. I have been using the dyno to measure my modifications. For example, adding the TT race downpipe and adjusting my mixture from 8mA to 4mA gave me a very soild 10hp gain.
I am pretty sure there is a couple more HP in there and with some fine tuning I'll squeeze it out.
Re: Dynojet results (83caddy16v)

Hey Chris.
Brian's Scirocco needs to have the cams re-timed, his actually lost hp. Clint's Corrado did 134 hp, so that is about dead-on for a stock G-60.
I ended up running my bro's car, mostly to set the air/fuel up correctly. Ended up doing 119 hp/124 tq. Not too bad. Probably backing off the timing about 2 deg. would help, we figured.

man, I wanted to go sooo badly... Had to do the inlaw thing. I hear all you guys did well with the numbers. cool... keep up the good work

Re: Dynojet results (bluerrrabbit)

Chris, those are definitley some respectable #'s at the wheels. i only hope i cam close to that with the 16/2.0 i am building.....i hope you can figure out whats up with your Fuel Enrichment Module. that will really help dump some fuel in...thus adding some more horses.
sorry to plug myself on here....but chris, myself and a bunch of other people dynoed together yesterday....tons of fun. i was happy with 115.5hp and max torque of 117.5 in my 2.0/8v P&P 3 angle valve, 272 neuspeed cam, full TT exhaust. and mine was at the wheels too. we'll all have to do it again, and see if we can get a couple of more ponies out.

Re: Dynojet results (83caddy16v)

83caddy16v,
The red fuel curve in first graph looks like the fuel system is running in closed loop until 4750 rpm. I say that because you've got a nice flat curve at about 14.7:1, the stoichemetric air fuel ratio. As far as I know CIS-E doesn't look at the O2 sensor at all at full throttle. Maybe your full throttle switch isn't working properly. I'd also say that your TT enrichment is working either, but that uses the full throttle switch too doesn't it? My stock 1.8 CIS-E 16v runs right around 13:1 at full throttle for the whole pull.

Re: Dynojet results (ValveFloat)

Never actually dynoed my car but seems to run like poop running that rich. It feels like it runs best at about 5-6ma. If I try to richen it my lowend seems to suffer a great deal and doesn't pull any better at the top. Blitz16v also runs a lot better when leaned out, I set his at 8ma after trying 3-8ma and found that at 8ma it pulled the best. I know this contradicts everyone elses dyno numbers but I think making a trip to the dyno would tell once and for all if we are correct.

I just thought of something. When you richen the fuel you lose low end throttle response as well as torque so I guess that's what we are feeling. But still we feel no top end loss at all when we run this lean.

Re: Dynojet results (Mk2JettaGLi)

thanks for the feedback guys. When I had my mixture set at 8mA and I had a detonation issue. I'll probably play with it this week and keep inching up until it starts to detonate. Probably somewhere between 4mA and 8mA.
I am also going to try and test to see if I get 15mA at WOT.

Well it would probably be easier to just test the throttle switches directly rather then trying to read the current change at wot
Re: Dynojet results (83caddy16v)

The leaner you go, the more detonation is likely. 8mA is leaner than the stock setting.
Re: Dynojet results (9A16V)

When I first started my 16V testing, I made 135 to the wheels (per DynoJet) w/ a 50mm intake, euro cam, GIAC chip, and 2.25" cat back system. I think your numbers are realistic...and you should consider the 50mm. It has always worked well for me.

Re: Dynojet results (duff_man2000)

Sh1t My 16V only made 110.4
Re: Dynojet results (duff_man2000)

those are more then realistic.. Hp is hard to squeeze out of a 16v motor.. and cost a lot of cash .. im at 142 to the wheels and thats with head work, cams and all the bolt ons you can imagine.

Re: Dynojet results (tnesh)

My car's making 139.5 to the wheels, with a eurocam and a ported head. I'm pretty happy with it, but Dave Rodriguez's Jetta makes 142 to the wheels with a eurocam and a stock 1.8 head. I haven't figured that one out yet.
How much of a difference does a long downpipe make over a stock downpipe with a test pipe?
