Re: Easiest instructions on doing the rear fog mod. (Jetta97GT)

It's easy, very easy. I even hear that Jettas are even easier than GTI's. I did mine couple of days ago and I thought it was quite complicated before I started. Once you read the instructions carefully and look at the taillight assembly and all you'll figure it out easily. It's not that hard.

For post '95 cars.... http://members.home.com/felixtff/jettarearfog.htm
For '95 and earlier.... http://www.roadrallysport.com/prjctvnto.htm
It is very easy in the Jetta since you do not have to re-wire the tail light assemblies. If you have a '95 or earlier it is cake...

Re: Easiest instructions on doing the rear fog mod. (EuroStyle)

what connectors and stuff do i get? I need part numbers?
Re: Easiest instructions on doing the rear fog mod. (Jetta97GT)

How do i know if my car has the rear fog light indicator light in the cluster? that would be DOPE
When i hooked up my rear fog, all i needed was some wire, some butt connectors (get at radio shack, etc), and a VW wire connector...just search through old threads, i remember posting something last week about this same topic with a link that had a part # for the wire connector

you dont need any connectors

just ghetto strip the wire and shove it into the connectors!

Yeah, i did that in the back, it works too...i work at a VW dealership and i was picking up another part, so i got the connector at the same time to do the front when i got my euro switch

Re: Easiest instructions on doing the rear fog mod. (SLC PUNK)

there was a thread on this in like the last few days...do a search, i think it was in the golf/jetta 3 area...you need to move the bulbs around and stuff, someone posted a good link
Re: Easiest instructions on doing the rear fog mod. (VR6 Mk3)

You should get the VW connector, it is only $2 (VW P/N 000-979-133-A ) and makes for a factory install that will not give you a headache down the road (like if the ghetto wire slips out...). The cluster icon is only in post '97 cars as far as I know....
Chris, here is a link to the Golf rear fog.... Steve P's How To
And a second..... A Second One.....

oh.. btw, if youre too cheap to buy a bulb for the rear fog icon,
pull the bulb from the seatbelt socket
I found that light to be highly annoying

oh and yes, i wear my seatbelt.

Try this link for Jettas: http://www.roadrallysport.com/rrfoglgt.htm
I installed my Euro switch and rear fog mod today. It didnt take long at all. The hardest part is running the wires.

My girlfriend freaked when we testdrove a '96 GL with no glovebox. The owners manual and stuff were in the passenger door compartment. I ended up getting a '98. It has a glovebox.
