what is the easiest way to relay the headlights on my 90 GLI 16v? the car is getting aero e-code lamps and i would like to use 80/100 watt bulbs but need relays to do so. What relays do i need and are there any companys that sell complete kits to relay the lights? any info is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you're gonna see this post, but you should use two 30 amp relays. Mine arn't bosch, but thats what everyone else seems to be getting.

You can buy a relay harness that also converts from 9004 to H4 plugs. I just cant remember who sells it

Dan Stern, maybe?

After doing a number of relay conversions, I'll recommend looking for a 5-pin relay, which should have two #87 connectors. One pin to the left lamp, one to the right lamp. Otherwise, you have to bundle two wires off of one connector, and it's a bit less efficient.
Please don't get me wrong, four-pin relays will also work really great, and I still use them. If I can easily find them, though, the 5-pin adds a bit of "neatness" from using single-wire connections that I've grown to appreciate.

Do you use spade connectors or hardwire the wires to the relay? I've contacted Daniel Stern and emailed back and fourth a few times, but when I asked him about buy one of his relay kits, I stopped getting replys even after a few more emails to him.
I suppose now I'm left to find relays, some inline fuse holders and a rocker switch on my own.
If anybody has a good source to get these parts I would greatly appreciate it.

Spade connectors are fine. If you can get the "guarded" type for direct wiring, it'll be a little safer in the installation and application. You can also look for relay plugs. Here are examples of the types of relays and plugs:

Besides Daniel Stern's, here's another good relay primer: http://www.geocities.com/midli....html
