I've found some good stuff on ebay. Sold some stuff as well. There are bargains and there are not-so bargains.

ditto..you have to know what youre looing for and what its worth. There are scammers on Ebay. I've always looked at stuff on EBAY but only bought from here in the classifieds.

i have bought nearly all of my used parts from either ebay or the local classifieds and have cut the cost of my bug in at least half although i'm not keeping receipts for fear of my wife finding out how bad this bug habit really is,

Ebay is bad for the Aircooled VW community. I'm not sure what to say about Watercooled.
People are generally very cheap, dirty, and hound you until you lower your car's value or try to buy it off of you when your auction is over at a very low price.
I cannot believe what I went through with my 1973 Sports Edition Super Beetle when I posted it for sale on Ebay. I received anything from insults, death threats, and just general cheap treatment from people.
Some of these cars are worth thousands of dollars if not more, because of the time and money put into restoring them. They end up going for pennies because people have realized how to manipulate you into lowering your car's value to a ridiculous amount and then they take full advantage of you in every possible way.
Just personal experience here...but I know others that can say the same. Visit http://www.thesamba.com and see how the best cars on that site end up for weeks if not months being posted and reposted until their values go down at least 2000 dollars.

They need to get rid of those damn HID wanna be lights and useless honda crap they try to sell to unsuspecting VW drivers. I buy my stuff from the classifieds on CCA and Vortex. You're less likely to get scammed because you can warn all other vortexers of a bad deal.

I have to admit ive sold some of my VW stuff on Ebay. It generally sold for more than i thought it was worth, but someone once told me one mans trash is another mans treasure. In fact i've actually sent extra stuff along to the people who overpaid.
I bought a set of HID's for my Cabby off of Ebay (EuroLites). There good quality, fit perfectly and everyone i've talked with (VW GTG's) said they liked them. Just my opinion. Billy

How much were your hids? $20 = Fake
$1000 = True HID conversion?
I like how Ebay provides a nice history of the seller. You can really get an idea of what kind of person they are, rather than "Dirty Sanchez" type scandals here on Vortex. I think that it gives a better opportunity for somebody to get somethings true value, rather than having a bunch of people chime in about how crappy said part it.
Also, it provides an outlet to sell non-vw parts, which gives me money for VWs.

Just wish EBay would no longer allow the word "rare" to ever again appear anywhere in a EB posting. That has become the most overused word and in some cases an outright lie when it comes to VW parts.
I have gotten some great WC VW parts bargains on EB.
Unfortunately some people have bid up VW items on EB Wayyyy past their
actual value. (like the $23 new part still available from a VW dealer that someone actually paid $120 for, and it was used.)
The phrase "Buyer Beware" definately applies to VW items on EB.

I've got a few good deals off of Ebay. But some of the stuff is overpriced, and people actually bid on it. Example: I've seen the orange dipstick guide tubes sell for $10, when you can get them from the dealer for about $2.
