was checking this out since someone sad all i need to do is swap the filter out for something nice like a k&n. is that true for something like this?

That's crappier than most eBay pieces of crap.

At least get one that's 3" all the way thru... Looks like that has a 3" to 2.5" coupler on it.

You might want to find one with the MAF hole closer to the throttle body, where it originally resides. Extending the MAF wiring would be a PITA just for a cold air intake.

i just ordered the autotech cold air

http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif intake it has a 3inch inside diamiter made of a composite with a k&n filter and its only 99 bucks plus like 18 to ship seems like a sick intake it will be here on fri the 28th ill tell you if its any good

Just Put mine on yesterday. Good inake. Had to modify a few things to make it fit, but no biggie.
