well on a2 you have to put the rear of the car on jackstands press the pedal about three times to the the pads, then you gonna release the lucknuts for the cable at the handle check under the car that the spring is fully seated , thighten the nuts in the cable evenly and check with one click the rear wheels should only move with preasure apply ,and with two click they should not move at all.
also you could check the distance of the spring with a ruler the distance should be not more than 1.5 mm for full force apply.
that's how you do it on an a2.

p.s if the spring don't return completly then you got a bad caliper.
