Just recently I noticed a strange change in my engine sound (93 VR6). The sound is somewhat simular to an engine with turbo, ie; whistling/screaming sound.
Could it be my timing belt or something to do with my air intake box?

Could be either. Maybe an overtensioned belt or a vacuum leak. Or an intake leak somwhere.

My guess is a leak somewhere. A little pinhole leak in an intake tube or vacuum hose somewhere will sound just like that.
Or it could be any of a number of other things. With the engine running, poke around under the hood and try to narrow it down.

is it only when you accelerate/decelerate??...then its probably intake...cuz mine did the same thing http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Yeah, only happens when I accelerate/decelerate. In order for me to hear it, I need to have my window open and be in either 1st/2nd/3rd gear. 4th and 5th don't seem to make any noise but that might be because of the draft noise from having the window open might overtake the screaming noise.
