Good day folks. I'm in a bit of a bind. I have a 2006 A3 and the engine started making some funny noises. I had recently acquired a wreck of a 2005 A3 with a 2.0 turbo charged engine my car has a 1.6 liter. I was thinking of swapping the engines but im not sure if they are compatible can anyone advise?

We don't have the 05 A3 1.6 in the States. If the 05 1.6 is an 8P chassis, the engine should fit. There's only three mounting points on the 2.0 transverse engine, transmission, and pendulum.
The other part is to reprogram the 1.6 ECU or swap the entire 2.0 ECU.
