EPC light and gas peddle wont work???

today on the high way my EPC light came on and my gas peddle stopped responding???
well is would repond alittle but the car wouldnt rev over 1400rpms.
anythoughts?
turned the car off and sat for like 30 seconds and drove away...runing perfectly fin now

are you chipped? might be the solder job or pins dont have a good contact(if you have socketed chip, like giac).

no, if the chip came unsoldered you'd be dead in the water...
could be the throttle body thing that chris86vw was talking about... he had to pull over and re-start car to remedy that issue...

I also have a awd 2000 with a ko4?

sounds like it could be the Chris86vw ko4 syndrome...he had the same thing....

Sounds like the ECU put itself into limp mode. Could have been a glitch if it's running fine now.

I had the same issue. I towed it to the dealer and they said I needed a new ECU because the old one was fried!!!!!!! It was a total of 815 dollars to fix. I called AWE and they said that it was not the chip, I was told if the chip was bad than nothing would work. Volkswagen didnt warranty my ECU because i had gauges and an aftermarket radio....BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let us know what your problem is

Tony- Same thing here. It's not a Ko4 thing. I have a t3/t4 and it happens...someone told me it can happen due to overboosting.

I had the same problem..VW replaced the TB under warranty and that fixed the problem for a while, but came back. OTS from VWoA came to fix the problem and it turned out to be the harness at the Throttle Body. They replaced the harness. He says the connection at the throttle body has been know to go bad. Did you pull any codes?

Ok few things, the biggest issue I had with my Ko4 testing was limp mode, which this is not. Limp mode woudl make 6psi or so and thats it, car still ran, no CEL no other lights.
What you have is either a bad TB, it has happend, and has nothign to do with a chip, ECU on the way out, nothing to do with teh chip, or you popped a code for torque limit exceeded, now if you wer traveling down the highway it is possible that this happend but very unlikely, the only times I had problems with this code were taking off from al ight hard, or when I was playing with my manual boost controler it woudl spool up too fast. If it is the ECU it will keep on happening till it just dies, I have had this happen before, just happend one day weeks between teh last time I had touched it, so I dont' think it was related. Or when I was at the dealer I had seen a few cars wehre the TB pooped out. It would come right back, but then go out again.

Seeing as you obviously didn't have the dealer fix it under warraunty how much did a new TB set you back? Or how much a joe schmoe off the street would get set back with out any dealer or aftermarket connections? I have a suspicsion this will be just like the TB's on the BMW 850's where both TB would go out and set you back $600 a piece

If you didn't know the 850 had the fly by wire v12 and had two seperate intake tracts for each cyl bank. I think it was something like 5.0l too very cool car I have always wanted one

I have the answer...IM me and I will explain it to you......You threw a code ...Maximun engine torque limit exceeded...I have thrown it a few times..

I replaced my ECU not my TB and I warrantied it yes

, but I could do that at the time. The TB I believe is in the range of 500-600 bucks, dependign on car. I know even teh calbe operated ones were in that range.

Yes, I've had that problem before too and that same code. I found my forge sticking and got that fixed and lubed and the problem went away. I also went to version 4 giac. I don't know what really fixed it, but it's gone for now. Been over a year.

Yes it would start again but wouldn't go over 1,500RPM. My problem was a malfunction of the wastegate which required a new turbo... at 400 miles! But it's been rock solid ever since.

i dont think it can be ecu or chip related, because if it was, the car wouldnt start at all.
whats the cure? new throttle body? or just reset codes and a TBA?

this happened to me today as well and i got the ...Maximun engine torque limit exceeded... code, i also a max charge pressure code and MAF too high code!

I had similar problems with my 01 NB1.8t and it ended up being the MAF was getting flaky, replaced it and problem solved. I would look into the error codes some more and check before you go out and get a MAF, they aint cheap even with a hook-up.

i've been thinking i should just get a new maf and see if that cures it. lucky for me i can get the cheaper 2.0 MAF to work with my AWD so its not a$ bad.
