I don't think there is a replacement part for the actuator. It's built into the turbo. You would have to replace the turbo.

MKVII random misfire cyl.2, EPC light.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue or not but I was sitting idling for about 20min and my check engine light randomly came on. Scanned it and found misfire cyl.2. Engine was running fine so I cleared the code and it didn't come back for about a month until today. I was again sitting idling for about 20min this time I noticed the epc light came on no CEL, still same code random misfire cyl.2. Cleared code and its running fine. I've seen a lot of people saying throttle body, but I feel if it was throttle body related it would be random misfire and not on a specific cyl. Anyone else have this issue?

2015 GTI intermittent EPC

Hi all been getting the boost control a code. I have a JB4 and apr catted downpipe.

I let the car warm up, shut down a few minutes and drive off, all ok until the next restart.

When the light goes off, it’s right around 3000 rpm consistently.

I’ve read that the only solution may be turbo replacement, the car pulls perfectly when all is ok so it doesn’t seem like it’s actually bad. Can the waste gate be replaced independently?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

You can replace the wastegate actuator motor or maybe lube he shaft. My car is stock and I get this code once in awhile.

Same thing happens to me. I'm stock and it happens once in a while, usually around 2100 rpm after a cold start. I usually let the idle rpms drop after a cold start and then baby the throttle and keep rpms down until the oil temp is at least 180F. I find once the oil reaches 180 I can go WOT and the issue never arises. However if I even try to use any heavy throttle input with the oil temps below 160ish I will randomly get the EPC wastegate actuator code. Simple restart clears it, but it is annoying, especially since I want to get a tune but don't want to have to replace the actuator or turbo first.

EPC Light Please Help - Trusting German Car Mechanic

Hey guys the EPC light came on in my VW MK7 the other day. Took it to VW dealership to get it checked and they mentioned possibly replacing the turbo, fixing the wiring and replacing the coolant valve. They slapped me woth a 6k quote!!
Not trying to pay that much or at least looking for a second opinion.
Does anyone know a trusted german car specialist shop I can take it too in Toronto/Durham regions?
Or anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Good god dude. Do NOT replace all that ****. EPC light is basically limp mode. Your car ran too hot for itself for some reason. My car with an is38 turbo swap gave an epc light a few times, mostly due to an intercooler pipe popping off. If it happens all the time repeatedly, get it checked out by a trustworthy mechanic that deals with vw/Audi cArs. If it happens again, turn your key off and turn it back on again and see if it works okay. Do not take it to a dealer. It’s not that serious, I guarantee it. Sorry I’m not in that area to suggest someone

So, with the light on, what is the vehicle not doing normally?

Occasionally I have the same thing happen but it doesn't repeat enough to throw a light, I'll see it when I connect OBD11 for something. Always coincides with a time I'm idling for a while (more than 15 minutes) with the A/C on. I want to say I've seen it 3-4 times in over 2 years and 40k which isn't enough for me to worry. I did plugs at 30k also.

I've been battling this for over a month now as well. I have this on cylinder #1 and it only shows misfire at idle with EPC and check engine light. The car has 110k miles and it has had rough idle since the day 1 but never to the point there EPC comes on and Check Engine light is lit. Shutting down the car and re-starting makes it go away for a while until the next time.
I swapped plugs, coils and now injectors and it's none of these things.
Next step will be to do a compression test and perhaps open up the head to check valve springs.

Did you check the intake ports to see if they're gummed up?

yes, they were all cleaned 2 months ago when carbon cleaning was done by pulling the intake manifold and manually scrubbing the gunk off from valves and ports.
Perhaps some of the gunk got between the valve seat and the valve and the intake side is not fully closing creating lower compression and misfire on #1.

I have posted this in a few EPC related threads....

FYI: I just ran into the EPC light / waste gate actuator failure on my 2016 NA MK7 GTI @62K Miles. After reading up on it I was pretty bummed that I was looking at a turbo replacement outside of my 5yr/60k power train warranty. So, I spent some time on a Saturday trying to free up the actuator, re-adjust and run the adaption. Looked like I had it all set in my garage. All tests were running well. Then I took it for a drive and in about 15mins it stuck again.

I was all set to bite the bullet and do the turbo replacement myself, still bummed at the cost of the parts, not to mention the time. Then I decided to call the dealer, just to see if there was a TSB on it. He told me that the turbo was covered by a 15yr/150K extended warranty for PZEV built cars. It also seems to make a difference based on where the car is registered. So, before you get bummed, call the dealer and check, I am glad I did as mine fit the criteria.

My service history on this car...

62K - Turbo replacement
~40K - Water pump and cleaning carbon build-up
7K - Replaced whole car (Lemonade out of a lemon)

And a few oil changes of course.
