Hi! I had posted a topic about rims on another msg board and someone had replied saying that I should talk to you and ask the same questions. I want these rims on my 00 VW NB --> http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=236653
but they are 17X8 and he says the OEM VW 17s are 17X7 so he said i should be careful.
I dont understand what the difference is between a 7 and an 8?
How could it hurt my car?
If you could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'll fill in for Eric for now

The 17x7's are 17 inches in circumference and 7 inches wide. The 17x8's are 8 inches wide.
The only difference is the width and weight. A wider wheel requires wider tires, but the stock size of 225/45/17 shouldn't have any problems with an 8" wide wheel.
