Well, it's a sort of a Big Hammer, you figure out the rest.
I would also suggest a multimeter.
At least one 13mm combination wrench would be a very good idea too. Hell, buy a whole set, what, do you need an excuse to buy tools?

my favorite tools:
spring compressor
water pump pulley wrench
strut removal sockets (both types)
30mm metric deep well socket (driveaxles)
8mm 12 point socket for drive axles
brake pad seperator (cheap and handy)
socket endcaps (for low clearance) all three sizes
swivel joints all three sizes
thats all you need.....really

quote:

my favorite tools:

I just use pliers to push back the brake pistons

yeah, thats nice, this was a gift, works cleaner than using pliers, and had other uses for me over time...

Vice grips!
Channel Locks
MIG Welder! (okay, still working on this one, myself)
Impact wrench (still working on it...)
Torque wrenches (have cheap ones, working on getting SnapOn ones)
Pry bars --various sizes
Safety gloves (get the stretchy kind, not the cheap ones that catch on everything)
nitrile gloves (don't tear as easy as latex)
fluorescent shop light
halogen work light
LED headband light
if your socket set isn't 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" all, fill in the rest.
rhino ramps
tranny jack (working on it)
hammers/dollies (body repair kit), maybe a spoon.
magnetic bowls (the kind where the base sticks to the car without scratching it)
tupperware or other small CLEAR snap close containers
graduated containers
baling wire
duct tape
string
electrical tape -- multiple colors, 3M or other good brand
heat shrink tube -- multiple colors
I'm sure there's more stuff that I can't think off, of the top of my head.

Don't forget the specialty tools from Schley:
slotted nut tool to dis-assemble struts
timing belt tension tool
17mm hex to drain tranny
belt/pulley removal tool
shift alignment tool
fuel injector puller
oh yeah, not from Schley but important. Bactine™ and band aids.
