Front rebar.
If you're feelin frisky, you can get a euro rad support too, it looks neat, allows e-code lights to bolt right up, and saves a lot of weight
For the rear rebar, it's not worthwhile to buy a euro one, and besides it wouldnt do much good in an accident anyway. Best is to trim your US one, or you could go without. I go without - some gasp at the idea, but I personally don't see it being a big deal.
Re: euro bumpers... (LostBoyScout)

thanks!
I wasn't sure if I NEEDED the rad support or not, answers that.
Re: euro bumpers... (LostBoyScout)

i did the euro bumper conversion on my golf. i did the front rebar and euro rad support. i did not do the rear rebar, b/c all you have to do is trim the existing one a little, but some say you have to change the rear...either way, the rear rebar is $40 from pgperformance.
don't forget the fender flares

A bit of advice on what type of euro bumpers you want for a nice fit...
I found that the front knock-off cheepooo euro bumper look's and fits quite well, as were the cheepoo rear euro bumper has a sh!ty fit... If I could do it again I would buy the real deal all around or at least a real back bumper. I have never really seen any one post this but you may want to ask around about that...
There's my $0.02
I also ditched my rear rebar, talk about weight reduction.

Actually, I have the Italian bumpers, and the fit of the rear bumper is absolutely perfect. The front is a tiny bit off (the sides don't sit quite flush with the fenders, they are a few mm off...), but the rear is dead on.
Maybe they fixed their manufacturing process, or something.
Re: euro bumpers... (Lobstrosity)

If you have a Jetta, you will have to buy an OM rear, as no one has the Italiam rears....and I recommend rebar...the euro is easier and it is cheap, but if you want to trim the US then go for it. Either way, the rebar may not be much but I don't want a 10 MPH hit totalling my car....

to install the front re-bar, is it correct that AC has to be removed? How much labor is involved in installing the new re-bar?

The AC has to be discharged, not removed. Get some coolant as well, you may spill some dis-assembling everything.
Not too sure about how long it will take, yet

Re: euro bumpers... (abtvento)

You need the european front rebar (the rebar will need to be modified to fit US spec fog cluster). Euro rear rebar is usually not sold and does not fit US spec cars. US spec rear rebar will need to be either discarded or modified. You don't have to get a Euro core support.
If any of you have a ginster and would like to get euro bumpers... drop me an email relatively soon. I may be able to help you on a freshly painted pair (front rebar already modified).
Mods, I'm not selling them. I just know about a pair of bumpers that may be for sale. I am posting it because it is relevant to the topic. Lock it or not... do as you wish.

Ditto, I have more of an issue with the front fitting well than the rear. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: euro bumpers... (EchoOfGecko)

You do not need to do anything to the AC or radiator if you are just installing the euro rebar....this comes into play when you do the euro rad support...

ive removed both my NA rebar and rad support (to change my radiator) and i NEVER had to discharge AC nor mess with coolant (aside from what was neccessary to change teh radiator itself).
