Okay, well since cars are finally getting delivered, might as well kick it off to start gathering info…anyone finding info on MK8 Euro Tails? This forum was my source for installing the MK7 Euro Tails, harness and the necessary coding. Hoping we can make this happen again for the MK8!

Looking at doing the euro tail on my R

I'm thinking the first four part numbers give you no rear fogs.
Subbing out one or the other inners gives you fogs on that side.
No idea the harness adaptation or coding required to actually make these function.
Also no idea if the part numbers are actually correct. This is best guess cross referencing e-acca, cars247 and photos I was able to find googling the part numbers.

Thanks for the info with the part numbers. Haven’t been able to find any concrete info on whether these will be all the right items for our cars…kinda waiting for someone to take the first plunge with the North America cars. A poster on VWROC posted the part number for the clear tail option that’s available (bottom of pg 65-66). I may go this route myself since I’ve got a white R.

What have you bought for your 8R?

Same here, I was never into clear tails, but this one looks great. Sent an email to e-acca to see if they can source them.

Per the good folks at VWROC, the part number you’d want in NA is 5H1052200A, if you want the clear Euro tails. 5H2052200A would be for UK or right hand drive cars. The only difference I’m guessing being which side the rear fog lights up.

That’s fantastic. Any chance the OBD 11 Diagnostic Tool would be able to code the (potential) IQ Matrix headlights? That’s on my list of things to buy when I get the vehicle delivered. Oh and I’m from BC Canada originally and there’s a parts place I have trying to source the lights in Germany/Europe. They’re called PG Performance. The owner has multiple connections in Germany and the EU. I read that the NHTSA has changed their rules on these types of headlights going forward and should be allowing them from Europe on American vehicles (and hopefully Canada follows suit).

US will never have OEM ROW lighting with sequential turns unless they code them to somehow begin the flashing sequence with a full illumination of all LEDs in the strip.
Current sequential turns do not meet minimum brightness requirements in the US.
There is a chance that OBDEleven has the power to modify coding if the NA headlights are able to execute full IQ Matrix functionality.
I've never used OBDEleven, all my ventures in long and short coding have been via VCDS. Not intuitive at all especially since all the adaptation channels are in German.

NHTSA sets adaptive headlights early, so we may get them soon

Adaptive headlights may be available sooner than expected, since NHTSA has published its rules earlier than needed. Older lights might be upgradable.
