Okay, so i have an 02 gti 1.8t and i want to get a nice sounding exhaust on it but most exhaust systems had a 3" downpipe with a 2.5" exhaust, but what people have told me don't do that because they say that sine the downpipe from the turbo is 3" and the exhaust pip is 2.5" that since the pipes aren't the same size that that extra air from the downpipe will go back up and put pressure on the turbo and could lead to problems? So i'm just wondering if any of you have the 3" downpipe with 2.5" exhaust and have had any problems or to just try and get find a 3" downpipe with 3" exhaust, i just want a nice sounding exhaust

you could always do 2.5in dp to 2.5in catback...
but plenty people run 3in dp's with 2.5in catbacks, you're fine.

3" DP > 2.5" catback FTW. Best of both worlds IMO.

Stop asking those people for performance advice. Going by that reasoning I would think the exhaust pressure would cause the piping to explode when it hits the baffles & smaller diameter in the resonator & muffler.

I vote for 3"-->2.5" as well. Sounds a lil better in my opinion than full 3"

yea a 3" to a 2.5" is fine
