Exhaust Question....

i just realized my Supersprint exhaust is not 2.5" and it really is 2.25"
would i be able to fit 2.5" piping on a 2.25" muffler? Like if i can clamp down the piping to fit the muffler....if so, how much flow gets restricted?

i guess you could do that jerry... but it would be a huge bottle neck in the system... my guess would be it would restrict as much flow as a 2.25" would normally

It'd prolly b cheaper to just sell yer muffler and get a TT catback that comes 2.5" already, plus they get really good flow

i have a TT right now, and the reason im selling it is so that i can move up to a bigger piping...but its still the same...besides, my Supersprints looks too pretty

Ditch it and go 2.5" all the way. It's a turbo, so it needs to breathe! Don't strangle it in the name of aethestics.

2.25 is still ok man, mandrel bent good poop. as long as you have a straight thru muffler you will be ok.

2.25 is pretty large in general, 2.5 might hurt your bottom end preformance.

well, my car will be turboed, so i was thinking a 2.5" to match my downpipe and relieve some backpressure

If you use 2.5'' piping with your existing system you will end up with a nozzling effect which will basically make impossible to get straight flow (given the dimentions of the car.)

3.0 = VR6.... 2.5 = 2.0
Somebody will prove me wrong I'm sure, but I haven't seen anyone run a 3" pipe on a 2 liter.

i beleive spooled_2ltr is running a 3" for his turbo 2.0

Just stick your muffler on a pipe expander.....you can bump it up to fit...the insides of the muffler will be the same.
