Re: Exhaust Question (k2bum)

I'm running 2.5" all the way from the header back. I am using a magnaflow resonator and muffler. The resonator is located where the exhaust crosses over from the center of the vehicle to the driver's side. The resonator is a suitcase style. A couple of things to look out for........ 2.5" pipe is too big to get between the trailing arm and the body 2.25" is still really tight. I went through three of the round resonators installed just behind the CAT before finding out that Magnaflow had a problem with this resonator on some of their recent production, make sure you get a good one. Even with the resonator there is a nasty raspberry at around 2,500 RPM. The exhaust sounds not too loud unless you really stomp on it. I am thinking of a second resonator to try and tone down the noise at 2,500 RPM. I would find a different exhaust shop that doesn't give you a line of crap about the resonator. These cars have a resonator for a reason, even the stock system is pretty rumbleley with one in it. You really don't take away from the air flow by putting in the resonator and personally I would rather have a quieter system than hardly being able to hear yourself think driving around town.

Re: Exhaust Question (PBIFFGOLFK2)

One more thing.... If resonators rob power why does just about every quality aftermarket system have a least one in it??????? If you've ever looked through a Magnaflow resonator you will see that there is very little restriction on air flow.
