From what I've heard, getting a lower restriction exhaust will increase horsepower. But I don't really need more of that; I'm already driving a chipped 1.8T, so I've got all the ponies I need. What I'm interested in is more torque. Can an exhaust with better flow increase torque along with horsepower?

Re: Exhausts & resultant torque (Guzz2k)

Less backpressure...less torque...more HP...
More backpressure...more torque, less HP...
Of course...it's not linear and you can't just keep increasing and decreasing backpressure...there are peaks of gain and loss.

I agree with this statement for NA cars, but for turbocharged cars the turbo provides all the backpressure the engine needs. From what I have seen on the 1.8T forum a less restrictive exhaust increases BOTH HP and torque for the 1.8T. Ask this question in the 1.8T forum for more feedback.
