Re: Failed DEQ test. Lovely! (Diamond Dave)

Good news: This trip to the DEQ has allowed me to pick up a few extra HP.
Bad news: This is because I need a new catalytic converter. And since the cat on 16v's is attached to the downpipe, it's really expensive.
And I thought I was going to be able to pay my rent this month. What was I thinking?

Only if your Cat has failed. Don't know how long the DEQ has been doing it, but they actually throw the cars on a dyno so they can anylize the emissions more accurately. The shop that is doing my maint, Hillside, said they were flooded with people that needed to replace the cat as soon as the dyno was put into use.
My cat was the original, so it was long overdue.

Re: Failed DEQ test. Lovely! (Diamond Dave)

The crazy state of Massachusetts now does dyno tests on anything newer than 84's which is crazy because mine is an 84. It was exempt and now is has been rescinded they had the 15 year rule. No way it'll pass now.
