I knew I would fail with no front licence plate and bald tires. I need a set of 4 new tires on my stock GTI rims. Heres my dilemma I planning on getting rims in the future and so dont know if I really want to get super performance tires for my stock rims, I would get them to race, but these rims seem very heavy. So what type of tire should I get the stock size is 205/55/16 I believe, can I put 205/50/16's for a little more performance??

The proper "plus zero" upgrade from 205/55/16 would be 225/50/16.

How wide are your stock wheels? As long as they're at least 7" wide, you sure can mount 225/50-16's...

The recommended rim width for 225/50/16 tires is from 6 to 8". I believe your stock rims are 6.5" or 7", so you should be fine.
