Were are having a betting pool here at my office of who would win... The slow and the timid.
2002 GMC Savana SLT, 5.7 V8, RWD, 275hp, 4 speed auto (with 2 tv's!)
Same color and everything pictured here....

1990 Subaru Legacy L, 2.2 flat 4, AWD, 137hp, 5 speed stick.
looks very similiar to this pictured

Im putting my money on the Savana. I think the scooby will take it off the line, but the GMC will reel him in.
Feel free to give your inquiry, comments, and insults...

Oh, and here are the approx weights.

Re: Fastest 0-60: 90 Subaru Legacy L or a 2002 GMC Savana SLT (DownShift)

0-60 you gotta go with the scooby (AWD launch will blow away the heavy van, which should have difficulty getting traction).
1/4 mile would be interesting (the van would have horrid aerodynamics though, I assume)

Re: Fastest 0-60: 90 Subaru Legacy L or a 2002 GMC Savana SLT (JettaPat)

If the Legacy is still putting out most of its factory-fresh hp, it should take the van easily. If the van had had a big block, I would have changed my guess - our company's Ford E350 van with a 460 could drop lots of cars from a light...not that I ever did that.... (The new van with its V10 isn't as quick.)

Re: Fastest 0-60: 90 Subaru Legacy L or a 2002 GMC Savana SLT (goterps)

ATTENTION: Change in scope for the race.
It is now 0-50
I miss understood my boss from the begining, he always knew that he would get killed from 0-60, so its reduced to 50mph.
goterps-
Yeah the power to weight ratio are very similiar.
We just came back from lunch and did some preliminary "testing" with the GMC (aka bangbus).
We found that 0-40 it hauls, but after it shifts, it feels like the power is lost going to 50.
Right now, we are devising a strategy for the van.
1. High test gas (104 octane booster).
2. remove the 4 captains chairs in the back (at least 200lbs total)
3. remove the airfilter
4. put it in 1st gear and keep the throttle down till 50mph.
We are planning on recording it with my buds digital camera.

Re: Fastest 0-60: 90 Subaru Legacy L or a 2002 GMC Savana SLT (maXor)

I've driven a Savanna with the 190hp V6, and it's a real slug off the line as the wimpy engine has to load up the big torque converter. Midrange it might have a chance, but it tops out at 90 to 100mph though.
Race uphill to maximize the van's torque advantage and gut as much weight as you can.

Oh yes, results will come on Monday or Tuesday when the race is scheduled.
We will be filming it in either my car, or my bud's 3000GT VR-4.
You know, something that can keep up
