I am dealing with a faulty cigerette lighter/power outlet. I checked the fuse already and have determined it is probably the outlet itself. When I looked at the outlet it looked pretty secure to the middle console. Has anyone ever taken the cigerette lighter out? I assume that its not permanently attatched to the console. Just looking for some tips before going any further. Thanks in advance.

Umm unless you have another jetta that's not in your sig you are in the wrong spot.
This forum MKIV is for 99.5- 200x models
Try the MKIII or the MKII forums for your other 2 jetta's.

i had a similar issue in my 2001 jetta. It wouldnt work, so I checked the fuse, and it was blown. I replaced it, and it kept blowing. So I took the dash area there apart, and found the wire was bare for about 1 inch from the back of the lighter. It was grounding out. So, I just taped it up, and has worked eversince
