Fellow Dubber out of Comission (for a little while)

Man, I miss driving my Jetta SOOOO BAADDD!!! Sorry in advance, this is long and not related to VWs.

Well, here is the story. I'm recovering from a motorcycle accident. Sucks bigtime. Broken right hand, fractured left wrist, and a broken right leg.
It all began on November 4. Friend of mine called me up and wanted to go for a bike ride. Got rid of my bike a while ago so I couldn't. Anyway they were going to be at this place where we mess around doing wheelies and other hooligan stufff. I decided to drive down and just watch.
My friend said I could take his CBR 929RR out for a few runs. There were a few people there that I never ridden with before but they seemed to know what they were doing. Anyway, after a while I was following this guy in front of me heading back to where eveybody was hanging. All of a sudden the fool decides to jack an endo in front of me.
I was looking away for a split second and caught it at the last second. I jacked the brakes and locked the rear up. The rear slid out and I couldn't stop in time. BANG!! I blacked out for a second and remember waking up on the ground. I was wearing a helmet and when I woke the helmet was off. The people said that I landed head first.
My leg was the worst injury. Compound fracture. Broke through the skin. I spent a week at the hospital and had two operations. Worst experience of my life. I'm at home now recovering and can hobble around a little now on my right leg. It's a pain typing though.
I will make a full recovery by February. And I will plan on getting another bike sometime. Anyways thanks for bearing with me. I just need to vent.

Re: Fellow Dubber out of Comission (Josh[deady]Able)

glad to know that you came out ok(it could have been alot worst!!!!!!)
It reminds me a close friend of mine that is a nutcase on a bike. He had a GSXR 600, and was doin endo's, wheelies, and riding like a mad man.
That bike got stolen, and now he has a 1000.
He scared the shiet out of me when we were on the highway, cruisin at 80, me in my GTI, and him on his bike. He decides to do a crazy ass wheelie for what seemed like eternity.
By the time he gets down, I have to accelerate part 100 just to catch up to him.....mind you were riding side by side when he started.
Bikes look cool, but chances are too great for disaster.
I wanted one before. But after a couple of people passing away in my area while riding, Ill pass.

I know what you mean . I had experiances with Harleys and dirt bikes but bought a little Ninja 250 for my 5 mile commute to work. Blew the engine on it doing 120 sitting in the garge now. The one thing I've learned in all my motorcycle riding is the MOMENT you think you have it mastered you get hurt or lucky.
Re: Fellow Dubber out of Comission (Bug_Power)

I feel your pain. I wrecked my F3 three times in five months. The last time was the worst time, on turn nine at Willow Springs. I went on to buy another bike, and took it on the track.....once. I never went back. Get well.

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate accident. As a fellow sportbiker I'm glad to hear you're alright and wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully one day you'll choose to ride again. Good luck!
Re: Fellow Dubber out of Comission (TRBNIUM)

Glad you are ok, been there done that.... here's my 2001 Suzuki GSXR 600. R.I.P.

Rest of the pics. http://www.gsxr600.org/images/wreck/
I recovered from a broken collar bone within a month and quickly bought a new 2001 GSXR 750 to replace it. I love riding bikes too much to give it up.
Ride safe and hope you get better soon.

Re: Fellow Dubber out of Comission (A-Money)

This was the second crash that I have been invovled on. And it had to be the worst. I do those crazy stunts and stuff that people see in those videos (StarBoyz and such). After getting a reckless operation and loosing my license, I thought that I would've learnt.
Definetly a wake-up call for me. When I was in the hospital I was thinking "That's it! No more motorbikes." But I really want another one now. I love them so much and the bikes take priority over my car
. I still have my first bike that I can ride around in. Although it's a 1986 Kawasaki Ninja 600R
.
I am planning on gettng a newer bike. Maybe not his coming season, but eventually I will ride again. I plan on getting a CBR900RR, 929RR, or maybe even an R1.
Like all my riding buddies tell me, "Bones heal and plastic is replaceable." Thank god for helmets. Arai all the way!!

Couldn't agree with you more (Arai + R1)!
Re: Fellow Dubber out of Comission (CBR600F4)

I am a new rider. I just took the safety course and got my license. Stuff like this scares me away from ever stuntin around on bikes. I have nothing but fear and respect for the power and performance of bikes. I am still shopping for one right now and hope that I never succumb to the temptation to learn wheelies, stoppies etc. It's fun to watch but I have many friends that have either wrecked and got hurt, destroyed a new bike, or got busted by bacon. Heck, I am scared enough in traffic at this point. I hope you get well soon and give up riding with hooligans...I know it's got to be fun....but one thing ALWAYS leads to another. I guess full leathers and a track day is where wild will come out in me

When I get back to riding I am going to put stunting and what not in the bag. It's gotten me nothing but trouble. I am a very good street rider and have put at least 15000 miles a season on my bike. I am actually thinking about a sport-tourer as my next ride, but left over CBR929 prices are making me look at those.
You can be sure that when I get back on the road on a bike I will be wearing my leathers, gloves, and helmet. That was a rule that I always went by (except on hot days, I'd still wear the helmet though).

Dude....i feel your pain.... I have broken lots of bones on bikes but I will never quit riding. It just gets in your blood. It is the biggest thrill. Oh well....I hope you feel better and I hope you get another bike. You cant fall off and not get back on. My last acident I was in the hospital for three days and out of work for a month and a half. But I had a new bike before I was able to walk again ( 9 days later I bought a new GSXR 750). I love my car but the bike takes it to another level....Oh well......good luck......
Re: Fellow Dubber out of Comission (drm916)

I probably will pick up a new bike for the 2003 season. I don't think I will be able to do it this coming season. Only thing that sucks now is that I won't be able to go back to work until March 2002
. At least I have disablility checks coming in.
Also sucks that I have nothing to do but watch TV and go on the internet...
