If you have a stock car, I don't think that it is stout enough to pull the gears on an FF. It is basically a (very) long box with the shorter final drive. I had a diesel trans in my A2 ABA and it defineatly needed more time to wind the gears, the car had the gusto to do it though.
Besides, I'm pretty sure that it does not fit. Some early 020 trannies do not have the correct mounting points for the A2 chassis. My .02 cents.

here is the situation...i can wait till next week for the 4k or i can go pick the ff up tomorrow for about $50 more. IS it worth it or should I wait? whats the difference?

Heres another thing. The car will have a lightened fly wheel with the new trans, which ever goes in. what would be the best trans to go into the car, would the ff be better?

Maybe we should try to contradict ourselves in case he wanted a second opinion.

if memory serves me, an FF tranny is A1 and the only a1 that would mount to the a2 mounts without needed work was the 4k. could be wrong, or could be right, but i would look into it before you decide to purchase the ff tranny.

yeah the FF will not fit your A2

no, the 9A was OEM in some A1 & A2, therefore will fit

Is the whole usable/not usable consistent with each tranny code? Even if you find a 4K or 9A or whatever, wouldn't it be safer to just look and make sure the holes are there?

Yes, or look for the 8/83+ date.
