Re: Finally, hi res (Blacklightning)

It's a Epson 3100Z (3.34 mpx). I got it from http://www.ecost.com for $505 total with shipping. I also got a 256mb CF card from newegg.com for $83 and I can store 240 (2544x1904 res) pictures (something like 900 at smallest res).

The camera was an editor's pick at Zdnet and it is really impressive. Anybody looking for a <3 mpx camera should take a look at this one.
The mods are coming by the way
18's and a drop is on my first to do list. I really want Mille Miglia Action Sports but they weigh like 25 lbs each. I guess I can cope with a little weight increase.

YES! What's you favorite drink: OE! What's it make you do: go Pee
That was an old rap song. What else does one need in their fridge other than 40's, eggs, and hotdogs? Looks good. I admit, the 3100z is pricey for a 3.34 mpx camera but it has a lot of features not found on other models. Thus, the can gouge me

2.2 mpx
6x zoom
8mb internal
I have the docking station(recharges & link) , case, and 64meg card.
I think as far as money is concerned it's a good deal. Especially if you get it as a gift. I got two of these for christmas
Took one back tho (explains the docking station and other stuff)

Yes, gifts are nice
It's amazing how affordable dig. cameras are now. I've seen a few 6.1 mpx ones at B&H, I can't imagine how those pictures look. However, the human eye can only interpret so many pixels, they will have to stop soon

In fact I compressed the 'hi-res' pic above 50% so it wasn't so damn huge. I like the camera a lot. The only problem I have with it is that it takes the pic about 1.5 -> 2 seconds after you push the button which makes it hard to get spit second action shots (cars moving). I don't know if all digi-cams are this way or just mine.

Mine also does that. There are settings for shutter speed on my camera so I will have to mess with those. I have a setting for Sports with the fastest shutter speed. I also noticed that when I take photos of people, their eyes are almost closed in the pic due to the lag in shutter speed.

I don't think so. I saw the DX-3500 on buy.com just the other day.

Hey Varr6, since you are so close. do you ever come up to Montreal? You should come by one day in the summer and meet up with the Montreal vortexers. Most of the cars are away for the winter and the GTGs start in May I think.
