I just had them installed at the dealership (vwvilla) and wow those are some big a$$ rotors. There is hardly any clearance with my 16"rims, ie. they look bitchin'.
Anyway I just had to share.
Now I'm gonna go look at them some more..
Re: Finally my TT brakes are on WOOOHOOO!!! (HIDGolf)
The fronts were $480 US from velocitysport (great guys & service by the way)
The backs were $136 but they haven't arrived yet but I was too excited to wait.
The dealership charged two hours of labour which is $165 Canadian or about $100, or so, US.
I'm not sure what's needed for the Tdi but give them a call 'cause it's not on their site. http://www.velocitysport.com/
Re: Finally my TT brakes are on WOOOHOOO!!! (gtiglxvr62000)
The fronts are 12.1" rotors, right? What size are the rears? Are the rears vented as well?
You have the 16" stock VR6 Castellet wheels, offset 42mm, and the front TT conversion clears them OK? I was worried because while I know any brake kit will fit under my 18" wheels, I use my stockies for winter driving and I don't want to swap brakes and fluid twice a year
Thanks!

quote:

almost forgot, yours is the VR6 so your stock breaks are different, would this be different for my TDI?

yeah it is a bit more involved for tdi's and 2.0s. you need to upgrade to the vr6/1,8t knuckles first.
the 2.0's and tdi's use an integrated caliper carrier which will not work directly with th tt brakes. these kits are easy to come by though

I can tell that's his spot in the garage...... Frank's the man!

No Frank isn't the man this time
It was another tech by the name of RAY!! He is one of the best guys around!!
P.S. front rotors are 12.3".
George at Villa will be looking into the prices for the parts for sale to other people.
It should be cheaper than the $480 u.s. that was paid.
I'm not sure who put them on but it sure looks like they did a great job.they feel so much nicer than the X-drilled Zimmermanns I had before.
I thought that the offset was 35 on my stock rims but I could be wrong.
Re: Finally my TT brakes are on WOOOHOOO!!! (gtiglxvr62000)
Ray.... haha.. the chinese guy? he's amazing.. all the guys at vwvilla are pretty good.. if i had to choose, vwvilla would be the best overall dealer/service in Toronto...
i go there all the time, gotta go there sometime to get my DE's installed.... my HID's are on order too..
Re: Finally my TT brakes are on WOOOHOOO!!! (HIDGolf)
Hey I am doing the upgrade on my TDi this spring I just need the bearing housings to put them on. But I will post pics and directions of the swap when I do the install.
Re: Finally my TT brakes are on WOOOHOOO!!! (howing)
Howing:
The Micro de's are easy to install.
It took me only a few hours to do and it's kinda fun to do things your self.
I was going to do the brakes my self but I thought better safe than sorry.

if you take the lug nut covers off (or maybe its on the inside and you have to take the wheels off, I can't remember) anyway, you will see that the montreal I's are indeed 42 offsets, in addition they are made by ronal.
