My friends were complaining about the lack of cupholders in my Mk3. Which meant that we took his Explorer to KFC, listening to country music all the way. So, in the name of never listening to country music ever again, I finally bought a set of B4 Passat cupholders from the dealer! I can now hold two full-size 20oz bottles in the front of my Mk3

Perfect for carrying full-size bottles, as well as that can of lithium grease for eliminating those annoying interior squeaks on the fly

I used a little piece of leather and some hot glue to fill the hole where the stock cupholders were, looks great IMO

The seat will slide almost all the way forward, but won't lock into the full forward position. I had to cut a decent sized notch in the console so the cupholders would sit level, but I'm not gonna take em back out anytime soon! They were $37 at the dealer

I got my cupholder broken in the Passat because someone tried to slide the seat forward while the tray was down. It was dark, so she couldn't see the tray in front of her foot. I was real angry, so don't let it happen to you
. (Always keep the tray up!)

I have that cupholder laying in my box-o-parts. Dunno where it came from. I was gonna put it on my old 4000 Quattro, but never got around to it. I may have to try it on the Jetta.

Install is easy. You have to cut a notch for the front screw bracket or the cupholder will be slanted (and so will your drinks). After you cut the notch and test fit, stick a screwdriver through the screw holes in the cupholder to make marks to pierce the colsole. Remove cupholders, pierce console and enlarge holes to let the bolts fit through, and screw in. I found the reciept from the dealer, they're part # 3A1-862-531-01C (for the black ones) and cost $37.75. Your dealer might be a different price, I called two places and one said $41.
And for those of you dumping on the Bauhaus, it's an acquired taste. And, just like fine wine, it gets better with age (AKA the seats fade so you don't notice it anymore
).

he said they were $37.00 at the dealership he went to. I went to check these out at the dealerchip near me and they were $42.00 http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
I'll get them sometime.
Good job on the install, and I'm sure you're loving the less clutter effect they give.
