And got walked - sort of. Kids driving Daddy's car - or one Daddy paid for, anyway.

He was first at the light, me behind him. He won't get on it hard, pulls over, I get next him in 2nd. We're looking at each other, I'm trying to get him to go. He finally gets on it, we're even. Next light we're both in front (no traffic, save the lectures). I'm ready, but once again, he won't do an honest drop, trying to get some advantage. He hesitates, I'm already in gear going like 10, he nails it, I nail it, I get wheelspin for about 3 seconds (cold tires) while he walks, continuing to pull me up into third after I finally hook up. With a better launch it would have been damn close. Congratulations, your $35K sport sedan just barely beat a 14 year old 1.8 liter VW. Hope it was worth it.

just for your info a is 300 dosnt cost 35k

base price on an IS300 is 33k. If you add any options (17" wheels, moonroof, Limited-Slip) you are right at $34,000. Dealers in Washington state add at least 3-5k. Or rather they did....

Racing from a stop light isn't exactly a science, is it? A well driven car (me in my GTI

) beat a VR6 Corrado from a stoplight and up through a 2-3 upshift. So what? I knew my car better than he did...that's all.

on a tangent, Lexus is just about the most un-original car company (or Toyota Division) Look at their TT clone sports car. They could have at least done a good job at copying the TT shape and character.

Oh, and the taillights on one of their pure "luxury" models look like they come straight out of Stuttgart.

Face it Lexus, youre never gonna be on the same level as Mercedes Benz and BMW.

Lexus sucks.

my friend got one for 25k fully loaded, but he paid cahs i dont know if that affected it but.... they are POS's i hate them so much, i think of them as the poor mans lexus, lol but eh to each is own, eh good job taking it out

i sorry, but im gonna have to disagree on that one. th IS300 is an awsome car. although it cant hang an amg benz or carlson benz and the bmw m3 i think it still deserves credit, its one fast lil car.

hey, IS300 is kinda slow... I raced one in my rabbit with a slippy clutch, and he couldn't catch me until 80ish,, where I slowed down

comparibly, the lexus is not a quick car. if a 14yr old slightly modified 1.8 16v can play with one, thats not cool for the brand new sports car. If I was buying the "new sports coupe" it better be able to walk all over a 14yr old 1.8l car.
btw, my practically stock 1.8l 16v beat a 3.2l v6 Acura Vigor 2 nights ago. 16v's rock (especially with small bumpers)

i dunno, but ithink if i got behind the wheel of an IS300 and somone in my 16v i think i would be able to blast my car. and honestly, the guy he raced was just some punk kid in his daddy's car. im sure he didnt even know what he was doing. but then again if alot of you have had an experience like this then maybe im wrong???

Its a good story Speedy, thanks. I got some entertainment out of it. I think the nitpicking over the yuppy mobile should be over in the car lounge though.

Congrats SpeedyD...now just imagine, if your 1.8L Barely lost to a brand new IS 300, then my old ass 2.0 16v GLI should be able to keep up if not edge him out easily!!! Just goes to show you that cars can get as high tech as they want, but it doesn't mean that they are necessarily better...

Damn Speedy did you ever get your car tuned down correctly? If you lost to an IS300 from a roll on your car isn't tuned man our car's are aggressive from that aspect. The IS300 weighs something like 3300lbs+ and are geared fairly lazily in terms of roll on accel, but they are strong on the highway though! You should have walked him, not hard, but definetly pulled away. If it makes you feel any better I don't have any issues with them, I put a good 2 lengths on one, granted that was from a 30 punch, I woulda got destroyed if I took it to the highway though
