In case our new Mk2 project car didn't already make it obvious, we've got a soft spot for the 2nd gen Golf. Seemed a good day to share another one we've found up for sale in our forums and also on Craigslist . This great-looking '91 GTI 16V is currently owned by Project R32  and is up for sale at what seems like a very reasonable $7800.

What's so special about the car? Well, in addition to being one very clean specimen of the late Mk2 GTI era, it also sports a very clean look and tasteful list of upgrades including 6-speed conversion... Well, let's just let the owner's list of mods speak for itself.

Current mods as it stands:

Motor

2.0 16v- Fully rebuilt at 149k, currently 155k on it. painted and cleared block with the following done at 149k by my Uncle who is the PO.

Stock bottom end w/ new pistons rings seals and bearings
crankshaft shaved and balanced
rods balanced
VW motorsports windage tray in oil pan
2.0 cylinder head with 3 angle valve job
Schrick Cams 268/276
Autotech HID valve springs
Techtonics adjustable cam gear
Mild port and polish
painted valve cover
50mm intake manifold painted
new water pump, starter, timing belt, drive belts and water pipe
EIP solid front motor mount

Transmission was rebuilt also at 149k bead blasted painted and cleared with the following specs:

Quaife LSD w/ 3.94 ring and pinion w/ ARP bolt kit
VF engineering 6spd add on conversion on the 020
6 puck clutch w/ EIP lightweight flywheel
HPA poly trans mount
Neauspeed short shift

Suspension was done around the same time.

OMP lower control arm to rad support tie bar

Poly bushings everywhere and the car is corner balanced.
