Our 2018 e-Golf has been requesting we schedule service for the first time since purchase. The "service" consists of a lot of checks for things I regularly do (brakes, tires, washer fluids, coolant level), some checks for stuff I can't (battery), and a check of the brake fluid (which should be replaced, but that is an extra charge). The things of interest to me in their check are the battery check, and the brake fluid flush. I can check brake pads, rotate tires, check pressure, etc. myself.

For $200, I can get a Ross-Tech HEX-V2 dongle. Does anyone know if it can read the state of charge and other battery metrics? I'd much rather have a HEX-V2 than pay for a bunch of superfluous checks.

Thanks,
-Fab

I can get battery info using the OBDeleven dongle, but not sure what metrics to check - I can get a list of availabile items for the battery modules, if the info is not already out there.

I skipped the service myself, but was thinking of doing it so that it shows up on the car maintenance history.
