It's a story nearly as old as time itself.  Something of value or significance is stashed away, people forget about it for a while, and eventually the item resurfaces, now with a much higher value.  This time, I highly doubt when the original owner stashed this Type 2 away, they would have dreamed the value it would attain.

Originally imported to Britain in 1955 by the founder of the first-ever Volkswagen dealer in the UK, this Type 2 is not only the first example to hit UK soil, it's also the last known survivor from an early run of unofficially imported vehicles.  After spending 30 of the past 31 years tucked away in storage, the Bus underwent a 18 month restoration, returning the vehicle to better-than-new condition.

Early estimates place the value between £70,000 and £75,000 ($105,500-$113,500), but based on what we've seen at Barrett Jackson, we wouldn't be surprised if that estimate is exceeded.  We'll find out when it crosses the auction block during the Silverstone Auctions' Race Retro Sale on February 20th and 21st.
