I am looking for a matted flat balck look with the protection of a clear coat. Would I reach this by spraying a coat of flat balck and then a coat of clear wixed with a flatener?
Thanks

Re: flat blac then clear coat with flatener? (SlickG60)

I would do a matted single stage. Like all the new ford pick up truck bumpers. the problem is you cant buff it. so if there is dirt in it you just gotta deal with it.

If you're going to use a matte clear, then you don't have to use a matte black underneath. The finish comes from the clear. You can use any basecoat black with the matte clear.

A gloss textured paint is a single stage. You shouldn't use that. You need a normal black basecoat on which you'll spray clear that has a flattening agent added.
