Re: For those with aftermarket suspension, is your interior falling apart? (Turbo Bruin)

some say the mk4 interior is prone to ridiculous rattles. I am running h&R sports / bilstein sports and don't get any more rattles than usual, just thuds when all my stuff flies to one side! The only thing that rattles is the crap I ahve in my door pockets and ash tray

Between 2500 watts and full aftermarket suspension, my rattles are minimal at best. Nothing to major slight rattle in the back right and 1 dash rattle. I am way beyond warranty so I will just have to get off my ass and fix it myself or jut deal with it.

Something in my dash rattles. Something next to my A pillar rattles. My crossovers in my door rattle, that is my fault though, I'm fixing it tomorrow. That's about it. It's all pretty loud though. We all feel your pain, those who don't are deaf or blessed. haha

Bilstein coilovers and 18"s with 40 series tires and I have minimal rattle problems here. Passenger seat squeeks occasionally, but other than that, all is well

Off topic question...But if i were to get Blistein and H&R Sport combo would the ride of my golf be noticibly stiffer than stock?? If so how much more??? (BTW its a GLS therefore ride is probably softer than a GTI)

Would be stiffer with a lot less body roll, but would still be fairly comfy.

H&R Coilovers here and I have a squeek coming from my driver seat, a squeek I believe coming from my dash somewhere?, and lately it sounds like I have a marble rolling around in the middle of my dash(anyone ever get something like that, it sounds to me like something busted up in there).
Other than that all is silent, lmao.

Not sure about the H&Rs, but I have Bilsteins with the Shine kit and yes it is noticably stiffer at low speeds. To counter that at speeds anywhere above about 20 mph and especially at highway speeds it is much better ride than stock and without the boat sway. Suspect ride with sport springs may be stiffer than mine. Some of the guys on Fred's TDI page have gone with stock springs and Bilstein HDs and report very smooth ride. As to topic, yes I have a number of rattles and squeaks in various areas of the interior. Some seem related to the suspension and some to time of year and general fit of the plastic. Cold weather 25* f and below causes the dash area to go crazy with rattles and squeaks. Right now both back corners have rattles, left rr seems to be the parcel self, but not sure. Had the car in for 20k service on wed and had the dealer re-align the left rr door latch way off compared to other side seems to have cured or at least lessened that problem. Sounds like it may be the nature of the beast, stiff suspension probably doesn't help much.
