Found a deal, should I change my future?

So, I have a 1992 Jetta. Slow, automatic. I was planning to keep it untill I graduate and 1st thing when I get on my feet, get a Mk V GTI!
I've come across a 2.0 Jetta stick for a great deal. I'm especially liking the fact that it's a stick. I could sell my 1992 and get as much as they want for the 2.0, and it's in good condition, too. Just needs a tune up.
I think I could bear driving a 2.0 5 speed for many more years than I could my 92. I could move out, save up a lot more than just enough for car payments...and there's a better aftermarket for the 2.0 than there is for auto 8v digifants.
But, I thought I could stand my current car for ever. I can't. I love it, but I want more. Does that mean I'll need a VR6 after I'm tired with this thing?
If anyone has had an experience even remotely similar, I'd like to hear it.

im in a similar deal... i got a 94 jetta (auto). i wasnt allowed to get my licence until i was 18 and i got the car before i got my licence. you tink i would acutally say no to a shiny red jetta. i didnt think i would really car if it was an auto/manual. well now i do! i came across a white 96 gti2.0 w/100k for only 6k. but i dont want to get all bored with that and want a vr6 next week. but then again i could never afford a vr6 with school next year... i feel your pain

I worked my way up to a 6 I had an 84 Scirocco, 97 2.0 Jetta, 90 G60, 84 GTI, 98 GLX. Those are just the water cooled cars I've had.

I found welding on hte floor pan right behind hte front left wheel well. ANd there's primer on hte inside of the wheel well (huh
). The cat converter is actually dented, and it needs a motor-mount.
I actually knew from the start about hte motor mount, bu it's the left mount; not the front or back mounts. How the hell you break a side mount?
All the damage is on the left (oh, the left mirror is knocked off). It looked on closer inspection like she went down a ditch or hit something and drove up onto it.
TOo good to be true...At least I can save up for that Mk V now.
PS: Ryan, nice to see I'm not alone. Hang tight, man. One day, one day...

I love my 2.0, and it'll prob sell for more than your A2 in a few years when you graduate!

Do what will come out best in the long run. Cause buy this other one, then wait till there is a used GTI V market and you will be ahead again.
