There's a kugelwagen sat in the lot outside at my local volkswagen specialist I go to. I think it's for sale. Are these things rare/in demand/is anyone on the lookout for one?
I'm in the UK by the way

Send a PM to 'nicnoar'. He has a '40 and could tell you a little more about the values. Hopefully he will see your post. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

In "daily driver" condition, they've been selling from $21,000 and up in Europe and about about $18,000 and up in US. One just sold on ebay that is just a body shell (average condition, not perfect) with fenders and a chassis for $11,000 in Europe. But also be aware that there are alot of repros out there made in metal and fiberglass.
Aso FYI, it's "kubelwagen"

Ah right, sorry for spelling! I'd only heard them spoken of before and never seen it written down. I knew they weren't overly common but I had no idea they were worth so much. I'm pretty sure its a kubelwagen but I think the guy from the garage referred to it as a "trekker" - not sure if this is just English market name for it???
Its definitely not a repro, and it appears to be in daily driver condition, though certainly not show condition.
As I say, I had no idea how much they were worth. Might see if he doesn't mind me snapping a few pics when I'm down there later today http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

It maybe a Type 181 Thing, which is the modern version of a Kubelwagen. And Things are called Kubelwagens over there but not here. So we maybe talking about the 2 different cars. Things are roughly $4-6k daily driving condition.

I had a feeling. They're called different things to different countries, like a boot and a trunk. They're more rare, desireable depends on the person. They were only mafe for a few years, can't remember what years but was around the 70's. I think they were imported to US for only 3 years but were made longer then that.

Sory to reply to an old post, but are these values still current, or have they gone up or down. A friend is looking to sell her 43. Certianly runs and drives, but in need of the body work being re done. Was prevously a museam piece in Texas.

My advice to you would be to take a ton of pictures and hit thesamba.com Look for the topic named 1938-1953, this is where your going to be able to find find people that know about these cars or at least the right direction to send you. Truth is that these cars are very rare, and very desirable, so it would be in your best interest to talk to people that know these early cars.
As well with the pictures collect as much history, information, etc about the car. All these details can play a roll in the value.
Good Luck
