rewind to this past thursday night we had installed a peloqion shimkit in my gti
had a hard time reinstalling the circlip on LT axle cup but we managed to get it on after fighting it for a while.
drove it around the neighborhood a while and it felt good
fast forward to this mornin: was headin to an end of the season GTG i had arranged a couple of towns over
was an awesome backroad drive

pulled away from a stop sign and towards the top of 1st gear felt something let go

car wasnt accelerating even though the engine was revving fine

so i popped the hood and sure enough... the circlip let go so i had to get it towed

Re: found a red leaf while waiting on the side of the road (urogolf)

those circlips get bent out of shape pretty easy.
if they get too oval, they don't stay on. (as you know)
also, i take a small punch and lightly tap em to make sure they fully seat.

yeah thats partially how we got it back on
the new one that came with the kit wouldnt re-tract at all after we openned it to get it around the shaft
so we we used the original one and fought with that one too

sounds like your axle flange press tool wasn't fully engaged.
i made mine from an old connecting rod, nice and stiff!!

I've heard them called E clips and (the mopar logo) but at least it's not expensive right? http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: FV-QR (urogolf)

so what does the shim kit do?
excuse my ignorance..
it's a snap ring not a circlip

i have these snap ring pliers and they are amazing..
when i was doing the output flange seal i fought with the new circlip for half an hour before going to buy these pliers..
after getting the pliers it took me all of 10 seconds.
