ok, lets post all of the free or close to free mods.
1. shave rear emblems
2. take off front plate
3. buy some nice vwvortex.com stickers for around 3 bucks
4. clear out the front turnsignals
5. paint calipers if your into that(cheap)

thats all i can think of.
I'd like to know more though

i agree w/ the map lights... great mod... along w/ the clearing out of the front signals... and the debadging too.. you can also chop your shifter down by 'bout an inch or so, if you drive stick and feel its' too high

i also did the side bumper signals... but got sick of it after a while and put 'em back to normal park lights...
if you're REALLY desperate and amazed by little things... do this... if you're air cond. equipped, pull open the panel covering your heater control dials, on the back, take off the sticker in the bottom corner covering the words "air conditioning"... that way, it'll light up w/ the rest of the panel when the interior lights are on...
you can also remove your door chime relay, it's the one w/ the speaker on it... this is another mod i've since reversed... did it for a couple years, but got sick of how many times i left my lights on

i think that's it for now... but i'm sure i'll think of more...

Re: Free Mod Post (FriendlyGhost)

oh wow that car is ugly as hell I really hope its no one on here. or they would probally have to be beaten. Thats really just plain ugly no other word to describe it, and at least its not a vw
Re: Free Mod Post (pyrogti)

Well I wouldn't ever paint designs on my car.. ever.
Re: Free Mod Post (LostBoyScout)

Thats not really a mod cause that would be a modification and thats not really a modification more like a defecation (sp), it looks like a paint roller or a really bad prank
Re: Free Mod Post (LostBoyScout)

but jason, weren't we planning to do that hood on our windsors?... but in white?

Oh damn ! I want to do this ! How is it done, and when you take it off, are there any holes underneath that need to be filled ?
I have seen pictures of golfs that have this done, and it just makes the body lines of the car look oh so smooth

Come on, tell me ! I MUST know !

Re: Free Mod Post (Lyzic)

you can fill the holes... not sure exactly w/ what though... maybe ask either lobstrosity or blk97vr6... they've both done it and it looks pretty nice... i think vdub18 did it too... (used to be a3yellowgti)... but you just have to plug the holes and clean the adhesive off...
but you could (and should is what everyone will tell you) try to find the rare glass off some CL's that have no predrilled holes... it'll give you a totally clean finish

This looks good on euro rear bumpers, but not so hot with the stock NA one...doesn't really flow as nicely.

Re: Free Mod Post (boolio)

actually bools, you're right... i did this on my golf a while ago... it looked kinda mismatched w/ the bottom half of my car's arse...
but for some reason it just kicks ass on marc's and charles' car... he he he...

Re: Free Mod Post (archVR6)

I was actually screaming about the whole post in general.. I hate free mods if they are not taken under careful moderation!
Anyways for the window holes after taking off the rear hatch spoiler (if you can't figure out how to take it off, you don't deserve to know), use silicone or hardware store plugs (universal use things)

I just didn't want to rip it off and find some big ass holes that I had to now fill in

But ya, its only an idea, but the stock wing does look kinda cheesy to me. Still undecided...
